In 2013, Dr Jon Yorke won the Birmingham City University Student's Union award for Extra Creative and Innovative Teaching (pictured right, receiving the award). Jon provides a multifaceted approach to help promote effective learning on his courses, International Human Rights, Public Law, Medical Law and American Legal Practice. Jon engages BCU law students through use of multimedia and practical based assessment methods. This enables the students to develop critical perspectives on politics and law. Through Jon's teaching the students also benefit from his published work and his consultancy for the United Nations, the European Union, Council of Europe, and the British government's Foreign and Commonwealth Office. Jon also leads the BCU Model United Nations event, which helps students to experience the practical workings of the UN Security Council.
